In view of the fact that negotiations have
been resumed with the Nanking Government concerning the
Boxer Indemnity funds, now in the hands of His Majesty's
Government and amounting to more than eleven million pounds sterling, I have the honour once more to press very strongly
the claims of the University of Hong Kong for a generous
grant fran this fund.
2.
In this connection, I have the honour to
forward for Your Lordship's consideration the following
documents: -
(a) Balance Sheet of the University of Hong Kong
for the year 1928.
(b) The approved estimate of the income and expenditure of the University of Hong Kong for the year 1930.
(c) The report, dated the 50th November, 1929, by a committee appointed by me, as Chancellor, to investigate the general conditions of service under which the teaching and executive staffs of the University are work ing. The chairman of this committee was Sir Henry Gollan, Chief Justice of Hong Kong and acting Vice-Chancellor of the
University.
(d) A pamphlet containing the speeches made by Sir
